I attended massage school at The Colorado School of Healing Arts in Lakewood, CO and Klose Training in Lafayette, CO.
I chose this field because I want to help and comfort people and to give them an escape from whatever stress or discomfort that they are dealing with at the time.
I’ve been working in the field since 2012. I joined Medicine Hands in January of 2014 because I have always loved working in a hospital setting doing massage and massage has such a positive affect on the patients.
I most enjoy being a massage therapist because I get to meet & help so many different people. I also enjoy knowing about my clients’ background & stories that they have to share.
The most important things I feel about healing touch therapy in assisting patients & caregivers is that I can make a difference in their level of comfort and assist in their healing process.
My favorite patient story is from when I volunteered at Hospice of St John, in 2013. I had the opportunity to co-treat with a Music Therapist and we worked together to provide support for a patient who was actively dying. The patient was minimally responsive, though slightly agitated prior to the session. I provided massage to her hands, while the Music Therapist provided support through live music. Her husband expressed repeatedly, how grateful he was for the care his wife was receiving. At the closing of the session, the patient was calm, appeared peaceful, and passed the following day.
I am proudest of my ability to connect with patients and make them feel at ease.
When not working, I enjoy reading, painting & drawing, & focusing on my candle & homemade bath products business with my sister.
